I shared an unfinished outline for this back in February 2016. It still doesn't have a finished outline, but it does, however, have some color to it. I don't know how many times I've done the eyes, but I have them at a point where I like them. The gray sections of the cat are so easy to color. It's everywhere else that is difficult. I only have a 36 set of Polychromos so I don't have many cool colors since my set has mainly warm colors. My only two grays are warm. That being said, it is very difficult to make a cool, slightly blue/purple undertoned flesh color that can somewhat look like the skin in the reference I am using. There are 9 separate colors in the ears alone. They actually have a lot of light blue (I don't remember the actual name) in them and it took a lot of erasing, layering, more erasing, bending with the eraser, more erasing, and more layering to finally get the ears to look how I wanted them. This drawing isn't exactly like the reference, I don't have that skill level yet, but I do like to try and color match whenever I am not using graphite just because I need more practice with color matching.
More progress with this will be slow considering I have started college AND have 2 acrylic paintings I have to actually do and finish before the beginning of November. Maybe in between layers of paint or while I wait for the paint to dry I'll work on this, but as of right now I'm in this mood where I want to draw and paint and stuff, but can't get myself to actually do it :/
Anyways, hope you like this progress shot!
